Gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori apologises for comment on abduction of Ogbomosho students

CITIZENS COMPASS— Popular Gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori on Wednesday, apologised to Nigerians for backlashing her over her comment on the recent kidnapping of some students and teachers in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

Alaseyori had commended the government’s efforts on the abduction saying that more prayers should be offered for the release of the abductees.

She made the comment on Monday, during a live session on Instagram on her page.

However, her comment had attracted backlashes from many Nigerians.

Alaseyori took to her social media handles to apologise to her followers who were Aggrieved about the comment.

The singer said she discovered that many Nigerians were unhappy with her comments and felt that their concerns over the plight of the abducted victims were not being taken seriously.

“I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on the government, parastatals and every agency. But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices were unheard,” she said.

The singer pleaded for forgiveness, particularly from mothers and families affected by the incident, insisting that she would never deliberately disregard their pain.

“You know me so well that I would never make you feel like that. Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me,” she added.

Alaseyori had earlier said that Nigerians need to keep praying over recent insecurity issues, stressing that the government is doing all it can to ensure that peace is restored.

The kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has continued to generate concern among Nigerians, with many calling for intensified efforts to secure the release of the victims.
