CITIZENS COMPASS– Amidst criticism from social media users, GTBank has released the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan(VDM) within it’s premises before his arrest on Friday.
The footage captured VDM’s exit from the bank’s building and his walk towards the parking lot, but it does not capture the actual moment of his arrest.
He was said to be at the GTBank branch with his mother earlier that day. The activist posted a video accusing the bank of unauthorized deductions from his mother’s account. Shortly after, he was apprehended by law enforcement agens, leading to widespread speculation about the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
The CCTV footage shared by GTBank has sparked reactions online, with many questioning the involvement of the bank in the arrest. Critics have accused the bank of cooperating with the authorities to detain Verydarkman, citing the timing and circumstances of the arrest.
Verydarkman’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has since confirmed that his client was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and has been detained.
