CITIZENS COMPASS— Suspected hoodlums on Monday, assaulted and stripped naked a suspended local government chairman in Owo area of Ondo State.
The incident was said to have caused pandemonium in the area as council workers took to their heels.
Fracas reportedly broke out when the chairman who had been suspended for six months arrived at the secretariat to resume duties. Unfortunately, some hoodlums intercepted and assaulted him.
The situation reportedly got out of control leading to his being stripped naked.
An eye witness, Adinson Ola said the situation almost escalated as some loyalists to the chairman came to his aid but this was too late.
“The chairman did not see it coming as he received the beating of his life. They beat him mercilessly, tore his clothes and left him almost completely naked.
“Workers on duty escaped through various means scampering for safety. The hoodlums came with dangerous weapons and guns to disperse people.
“Also, they mentioned a certain dignitary in Owo to be behind the attack.”
Citizens Compass reported that normalcy later returned to the scene although there was no official statement about the incident.
