CITIZENS COMPASS— Some colleagues of Comrade Olalekan Ajagungbade popularly known as Emir, an ally of the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, who was shot dead in Osun State have narrated how it all happened.
They spoke in separate viral videos monitored by Citizens Compass yesterday.
Citizens Compass had reported that the crisis in Osun State deepened on Sunday, as the transporter was shot dead at Mayfair Garage, Ile-Ife, following a dispute.
Reports said he was lured to the motor park to attend a meeting but unfortunately he was shot on the head.
Narrating what transpired, a colleague of Ajagungbade, Comrade Kareem Akeem, in one of the videos introduced himself as a transport leader in Mayfair, Ile-Ife area of the State.
According to Akeem: I was on my way to Sunday service in the morning when my boss called me that he had a visitor and both would visit the Osun State Commissioner for Transportation and he urged me to join him.
Some of us were outside while the meeting was held inside the building followed by a group photograph and my boss headed for the garage at Mayfair to entertain some guests.
Everything went well until some familiar faces were seen, before then, I received a message that somebody needed my attention and I excused myself from the canteen.
One of them.wore a mask but I was able to identify him.
They were all armed and later assembled themselves before they started shooting at people.
In another video, another eyewitness simply identified as Gbadegeshin and the second in command of transporters in Osun State, said: I was in the church when I received a phone call from the garage about a scheduled meeting with the Commissioner for Transportation. In attendance were State council members and garage leaders.
The Commissioner told us that the late Ajagungbade’s name has been penciled down as the state chairman of transporters and he solicited our support to ensure that this sails through. This meant that the house was immediately dissolved.
After the meeting, Ajagungbade accompanied some guests to the garage at Mayfair to entertain them.
The next thing was that a notable figure in the union alongside his team members invaded the garage with gunshots but some of us escaped the scene including Emir.
However, some people were hit by stray bullets while the assailants traced Emir to where he escaped to and reigned bullets on him. I learnt he did not die immediately. We are in the Police station to lodge an official complaint.
Earlier, Governor Adeleke has disbanded the transport union in the state to be replaced with Park managers.
