CITIZENS COMPASS– SIX suspected kidnappers in Nassarawa State have confessed that they specialise in kidnapping their preys and demand ransom.

The syndicate have been terrorising Assakio-Sabon Gida Road to carry out the crime.

However, the bubble burst recently as they were arrested by Nasarawa State Police Command.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Baba, disclosed this to newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Lafia on Monday, January 30, 2022.

The CP paraded 28 suspected criminals who were arrested in the month of January 2023, for committing various crimes across the 13 local government areas of the state.

He explained that the six suspected kidnappers, who had been on the watch list of the police, were arrested in Kiguna Village of Lafia East Development Area in Lafia LGA after painstaking efforts by officers of the command.

“On January 12, 2023 at about 4:50pm, acting based on a tip off, police operatives attached to Assakio Division raided a suspected kidnappers hide out located at Kiguna Village, Lafia East Development Area, where the following suspects were arrested namely: Adamu Mohammed, 20 years, Musa Ibrahim aka IBB, 20years, Bashiru Anaruwa, 19 years and Hamisu Tanko, 20 years, all of Kiguna Village.

“One locally fabricated AK 47 rifle was recovered from the suspects as exhibit.

“A follow up investigation by the command’s anti-kidnapping unit, led to the arrest of two more suspects namely: Salisu Abdullahi Bunu, 30 years, and Abdullahi Haruna, 35 years, where one locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspects as exhibit.

“The suspects have confessed to be the syndicate terrorising Assakio-Sabon Gida road, where they kidnap people for ransom.”
