Ibadan indigenes to honour publisher at 2025 cultural festival

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has officially announced that Mogaji Wole Arisekola, a prominent businessman and publisher of The Street Journal Newspaper, will be honored with the esteemed title of ‘The Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigene (MPII)’. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon him for his significant contributions to the advancement of Ibadanland and serves as a testament to his unwavering dedication and exemplary service to the betterment of this historic city.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place as part of the grand finale of the much-anticipated 2025 Ibadan Cultural Festival. This vibrant event is set for Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the iconic Obafemi Awolowo (Liberty) Stadium in Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The festival promises to be a colorful celebration of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing an array of traditional performances, entertainment, and a formal award presentation honoring Mogaji Arisekola’s impactful contributions.

In an official communication from the leadership of the CCII, Arisekola was praised for his “immense contributions” that have significantly uplifted the development of Ibadanland. The letter elaborated on his selfless nature and commitment to serving the people of Ibadan, highlighting the deep appreciation the community has for local heroes. It stated, “Whereas many heroes in Nigeria are often celebrated posthumously, we in Ibadan have decided to honor you now, ensuring that you have a permanent place in our history.”
