Igbogbo monarch urges CDAs to promote peace

CITIZENS COMPASS —The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Oba AbdulSemiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1, on Saturday, urged communities in the State particularly in Igbogbo Kingdom and its environ to promote peace at all levels in order to attract development to the town.

The monarch said this during the grand finale of the end of the year activities organised by Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate Community Development Association (CDA), Igbogbo in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State.

Citizens Compass reported that the three days end of the year activities featured novelty match (soccer and table tennis), kiddies’ event, medical check-up and the grand finale on weekend.

The monarch who was the Royal Father of the day, said he was surprised at the level of performance by the estate and urged other Community Development Associations to emulate this so that Igbogbo as a whole will be a center of attraction. He said, ‘’I am short of words. With the little I have witnessed here today, I give kudos to Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate CDA for its performance. I am happy to see the children fraternizing and happy at what the organisers have packaged. I am not surprised that this is coming from this CDA, kindly tell other communities to emulate this,’’

The Royal Father was full of appreciation to the residents for their contributions towards the success of Year 2023 Igbogbo Day celebration, said the visit was his second to the estate to check the level of development saying, ‘’ I thank the CDA for the honour given to me and I appreciate their contributions during Igbogbo Day celebration,’’

During the event, Oba Adeboruwa was honoured with an award for his exemplary leadership in Igbogbo Kingdom and this was presented by the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) in the person of Pastor Abayomi Adelakun on behalf of the Estate.

Receiving the award, the monarch said it was dedicated to the Adeboruwa-In-Council, ‘’I am dedicating the award to God and the entire Adeboruwa-In –Council. It is a collective achievement and we all deserve it.

‘’I appreciate the CDC Chairman for his efforts in various communities, we are happy to have somebody like him, it is not easy to have a Chartered Accountant at the CDC level.

Let us live together peacefully, let us fraternize peacefully and be our brother’s keepers, let us promote unity in all forms and be role models to our children.

‘’We have all been witnessing the power of the social media been utilized by our children, so, we need to nurture them in the right way, let us learn to forgive one another, regardless of our religious background.

‘’Today, I am impressed at the children’s performance and hope to invite children in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to a children’s programme that will be organised soon.’’

He prayed for the development of Igbogbo Kingdom in the New Year.

Scholarship

Special Guest of the occasion/Committee Chairman of igbogbo Development Association, Mr Andus Balogun, awarded scholarships to two students in the Estate as part of his contribution to encourage the residents.

Balogun who is the proprietor of Andu the Great Schools said the scholarship covers tuition and text books from primary to secondary schools.

According to him, ‘’I was impressed at the performance of this CDA during the recent Igbogbo Day celebration. One good turn deserves another, I feel I should compensate them by giving scholarship to their children.’’

The CDC Chairman, Pastor Abayomi Adelakun,in his earlier address said CDC members are community developers and not destroyers. He urged residents to be fully involved in the affairs of their CDAs.

Adelakun lauded the efforts of Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate CDA as well as the organisers of the event.

In his vote of thanks, the CDA Chairman, Mr Musa Hamed Bolaji, said the event was organised to achieve unity of purpose, foster love and peace among residents, unite some aggrieved members of the estate, launch and encourage developmental projects.

As for the achievement of the executive members, he said these include Spelling Bee and Mathematics competition, installation of solar street light, Sports competition, fumigation, reintroduction of the annual end of the year party and stakeholders meetings to mention but a few.

Earlier in her welcome address, Chairman, Organising committee, Ms Oluwaseyi Abiodun said the event was specially packaged to the delight of the guests.

The CDA appreciated some hard working residents with Community Leadership Awards while children from the estate entertained the guests with choreography’

The event featured variety of games and cultural rendition.

Present at the event were CDC Treasurer, Alhaji Fatai Gbadamosi, other CDC executive members, CDC Zonal and CDA leaders in Igbogbo?Baiyeku LCDA.
