Ikorodu LG boss assures of improved staff welfare

CITIZENS COMPASS– THE Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Honourable Wasiu Adesina, on Monday, assured the council’s staff of his administration’s readiness to improve their welfare to enhance service delivery.

Adesina gave the assurance during the Annual Thanksgiving Service organised to usher in the 2023 administrative year at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos.

He said that his administration was passionate about workers’ welfare and promised to give it priority attention for improved productivity.

Adeshina said the thanksgiving service was organised to put God first snd pray to Him to direct the affairs of the council in the New Year.

“This Thanksgiving Service is an appreciation of God for last year’s success and commitment of this year’s activities into the hands of God.

“I assure you that the mantle of leadership bestowed on me will be for the goodness and development of our community”,he said.

The council boss commended the staff for their commitment to the development of the local government area.

Adeshina said the commitment of the revenue department has helped to shore up the internally generated revenue of the council.

“I inherited N5 million as the revenue generation in a year but now, my administration increased the revenue from N5 million to N125 million,” he said.

The council boss appealed to residents to go and get their Permanent Voters Cards to enable them participate in the general elections.

He urged them to vote for the candidates of All Progressive Congress Party(APC) in the presidential, State and National Assembly positions,for delivery of more democratic dividends.

Speaking at the programme, a Muslim cleric, Alhaji Shakirudeen Iradat, urged staff members to work with unity of purpose for the betterment of the local government area.

He commended Adeshina for serving the local government area well ,saying the various words of commendation from staff members was an indication that the chairman ‘’is a very good personality and worthy to be honoured.’’

Also speaking, a Christian Cleric, Pastor Femi Gilbert, urged the staff of the council to work with the chairman to ensure his administration delivered on his mandate to the people of council area.

In her speech, Chairman, National Union of Local Government Employee ((NULGE) Ikorodu chapter, Mrs Adenike Mobodu, thanked the chairman for giving attention to staff welfare and appealed to him to do more for better service delivery.

The Council Manager,Mr Martins Odupitan, also commended the chairman and promised that the council workers would work tirelessly to ensure the fulfilment of his mandate ,especially in the area of infrastructural projects.
