Lagos man trapped in manhole 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service on Sunday, said it rescued a man who was reportedly trapped inside an underground channel along Ikorodu Road axis of the State.

The incident occurred over the weekend, at Idiroko Bus Stop, inward Maryland, Anthony Village, within the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Agency, confirmed this in her updates saying the 55-year-old man was promptly rescued.

“In response to the emergency, the Ilupeju Fire Station was immediately deployed and arrived at the scene at 12:45 hours.

“At exactly 12:24 hours, Saturday, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service received a distress call concerning a man reportedly trapped inside an underground channel along Ikorodu Road, Idiroko Bus Stop, inward Maryland, Anthony Village, within the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State. In response to the emergency, the Ilupeju Fire Station was immediately deployed and arrived at the scene at 12:45 hours.

“On arrival, rescue personnel discovered that the incident involved a pale male adult, approximately 55 years old, who had accidentally fallen into a manhole. The firefighters promptly initiated a well-coordinated rescue operation utilizing specialized equipment and confined space rescue techniques to ensure the safe recovery of the victim.

“After sustained professional efforts, the individual was successfully rescued alive and subsequently handed over to a team of Police Officers led from the Anthony Police Division for further necessary action.

“The operation was successfully concluded, and the scene was secured at 15:41 hours.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state through prompt and efficient emergency response.”
