LASEMA records 1,211 incidents in ten months 

... Alimosho, Kosofe lead

CITIZENS COMPASS —Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has recorded a total of 1,211 incidents between January and October 2023.

The Agency disclosed this on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Okunbor Nosa 

who said 145 of the incidents occurred in the month of October. 

He said out of the 145 incidents attended to in October, Truck/Tanker category was responsible for 64 incidents, comprising 46 truck/tanker accidents and two fallen tanker/truck and one fallen container incident. 

He said, “The Road Accident category recorded 48 (assorted) vehicle crashes, the Medical category recorded 12 assorted cases, while Fire Disaster category recorded 9 cases, comprising eight Fire Outbreaks and 1 Tanker/Truck.

” Other Events category recorded a total of seven incidents made up of six various cases and one Assault, while the Building Collapse category recorded three cases, comprising of one Building Collapse, and two Partial Collapses.

” However, while Oil Spillages/Leakages recorded two incidents, there were no cases of Explosions, Air Crashes, nor Marine incidents recorded in the month of October Y2023.

” Data Analysis of incidents recorded per Local Government in the month under review reveals that the densely populated Alimosho LGA, with the largest landmass, recorded the highest number of incidents with 25 cases out of the 145 incidents recorded in October Y2023. 

“Kosofe LG recorded 18 incidents, Ikeja 17, Apapa 16, Mushin recorded 15 incidents, while Oshodi-Isolo 13, with Surulere, Ikorodu and Eti-Osa LGAs experienced 6 incidents each, just as Shomolu and Agege LGAs recorded  4 incidents each, with Ibeju-Lekki and Ajeromi-Ifelodun experiencing 3 ìncidents each.

“Also, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Ifako-Ijaiye and outside Lagos experienced 2 incidents each, while Amuwo-Odofin recorded 1 incident, where Epe, Ojo and Badagry LGAs suffered no incidents in the month of October, Y2023. 

” Conclusively, Data revealed that the Truck/Tanker category recorded the highest with 64 incidents, while the Oil Spillage/Leakages category recorded the lowest rate with 2 incidents. 

” Examination of incidents per Local Government Area reveals that Alimosho  LGA recorded the highest number of incidents with 25 incidents in October, 2023, while Epe, Ojo and Badagry recorded no incidents in the month under review.”
