CITIZENS COMPASS—Mr Gbolahan Ogunleye, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA), says constituents’ feedback would be prioritised and reflected in the 2026 Lagos State budget.

Ogunleye recently gave the assurance in Ikorodu at the 10th LSHA Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting with the theme, “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda”.

He explained that requests gathered from residents would also be forwarded to the state government, local councils, and relevant agencies to ensure speedy intervention.

“Some of the requests will form part of my contributions to the 2026 budget planning for Ikorodu Constituency I.

“I assure you that your needs will be prioritised and reflected in the Lagos State 2026 budget,” he said.

Earlier, Dr Nurideen Agbaje, Senior Assistant to the Governor on Rural Development, urged community leaders and residents to take ownership of projects in their domains to ensure sustainability.

Agbaje praised Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s electrification efforts, noting that no fewer than 30 transformers had been distributed across Ikorodu communities, with a promise of more to come.

He also encouraged youths to build skills and careers in sports.

In his remarks, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, appealed to Ogunleye to strengthen direct engagement with constituents.

He also called on the state government to establish a medical school in Ikorodu to help retain doctors amid the ongoing migration trend.

“Doctors are leaving the country in large numbers. If we increase our medical colleges, more can be trained to fill the gap.

“I also want residents to know that our requests can only be realised if we all go out and get our Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs),” Shotobi said.
