CITIZENS COMPASS— The Director General of Imole Progressive Network(IPN), Engr. Michael Abayomi Adeyanju, has been installed as the Otunba Mulero of Aiyede Kingdom in Ekiti State.
The historic event took place over the weekend.
The installation ceremony, presided over by the Attah of Aiyede Kingdom, Oba AbdulMumini Adebayo Orishagbemi, was a grand display of tradition, prestige, and communal pride. As custodian of the kingdom’s cultural heritage, the revered monarch led a colourful and symbolic rite that elevated Adeyanju into the ranks of distinguished Yoruba title holders.
Some of the attendees described the occasion as one of the most spectacular in the history of the 145-community Aiyede Kingdom. The atmosphere was electric with rhythmic drumming, traditional chants, and celebratory dances that underscored the significance of the moment. Dignitaries, political leaders, business associates, and community elders gathered in solidarity, reflecting the breadth of Adeyanju’s influence and goodwill.
The event coincided with the official commissioning of the newly completed Attah’s Palace—an architectural symbol of unity and progress. The palace project, which received notable support from prominent national figures including Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, was brought to completion under the administration of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. The convergence of these milestones gave the day an added layer of historic importance.
At the heart of the installation was the symbolic mounting of Ewe Akoko—sacred leaves signifying authority and honour—by the Attah upon Adeyanju. The ritual, steeped in Yoruba tradition, marked his formal acceptance into the revered circle of Otunbas, a title associated with leadership, wisdom, and service.
Clad in a regal attire and accompanied by his wife, Adeyanju received the honour with characteristic humility—an attribute many admirers say defines his personality despite his achievements in business and politics.
The ceremony was to further cement his footprint in public affairs.
Beyond the cultural significance of the title, the conferment has fueled political conversations, particularly within Ondo North Senatorial District. Adeyanju, widely regarded as a formidable contender for the 2027 senatorial race, has continued to receive an outpouring of congratulatory messages from supporters and stakeholders.
