Ministry lauds community practitioners for partnering with Lagos government

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – THE Special Adviser on Local Government and Community Affairs in Lagos State, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert popularlly known as Bibiire has commended members of
Association of Practitioners of Community Media in Nigeria (APCOM), for being a formidable partner of the present administration in the State.
He said this during a courtesy visit by the association to the ministry in Alausa, Ikeja.

The Special Adviser while receiving representatives of the association led by its National President, Abayomi Adejumo, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, expressed delight at the visit thanking APCOM for its positive reportage of all the activities of the administration.

“I feel elated to have you here on this visit as community media practitioners in our various communities across the State and also commend you for your positive reportage of all the programmes and activities of the administration of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu across all the nooks and crannies of the State.”

According to him, the previous administrations in the State have continuously partnered with the association on various programmes such as a retreat previously held for this association.

In his response, Adejumo admitted that the interaction has created an effective communication disemmination of information between the government and its communities.

He also appreciated the support the ministry has given over the years, saying the courtesy visit was an opportunity to foster the existing mutual relationship between the association and the Ministry.

“As an association, we believe that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has worked assiduously in the pursuit of its THEMES agenda for a greater Lagos and we are readily prepared to partner with the government towards consolidating on the gains of the first tenure for the new dispensation.” He said.

Mr Oloyede of AgegeTv Online, APCOM Public Relations Officer, while thanking the Special Adviser for the audience given to APCOM said the association will present to him the special recognition award for his contribution to the development of communities across Lagos.

The visit was an avenue to strengthen synergy with critical stakeholders in advancing the community media practice in Nigeria.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa also joined the Special Adviser to receive the association.

Also present at the meeting from the ministry include, Hon Babatunde Adewale Jimoh, Special Adviser Community Affairs,

Mrs Rita Adeola, Director Administration and Human Resources, Mrs Toyin Adeniji Director Community Development Department.

APCOM’s representatives were Joe Ihitegbulem, Publisher, Oshodi Posts/APCOM Vice President and Mr. Idris Kasumu of Community Update.
