NLC responds to court order

CITIZENS COMPASS – THE Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its planned industrial action that is meant to commence on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

The decision to call off the strike notice came after hours of talks between the NLC delegation and the Federal Government delegation in Abuja.

A formal statement on the decision is yet to be given.

Recall that that the Federal Government had earlier in the day obtained an exparte order at the National Industrial Court to compel the NLC not to go on strike.

The NLC’s delegation was led by the NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero while the government delegation was led by the Chief of Staff designate to the president, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.

Also present to give a boost to the government delegation was former national president of the NLC, Senator-Elect Adams Oshiomhole.

It will be recalled that NLC has been under much pressure from interest groups on the strike notice given insinuations that the Tinubu government has not been well prepared to addressed the issues given that it is barely one week in office.
