Ode-Idahosa urges Edolites to promote love, mutual respect
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Secretary General, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) African Continental, Hamzaosa Ode-Idahosa, JP, on Wednesday, urged the people of Edo State to promote peace, love and mutual respect.
Ode-Idahosa said this in a statement made available to Citizens Compass.
He said the Great Benin Kingdom represents history, authority, and cultural soul, and as such must be held in the highest reverence by all Edolites, without exception.
The statement reads: As Benins, we must deliberately embrace peace, love, and mutual respect, knowing that peaceful coexistence is the bedrock of sustainable development, happiness, and prosperity.
Our forefathers and revered ancestors laboured with wisdom, courage, and sacrifice to establish the noble identity we proudly bear today. This heritage must not be compromised or diminished in our time. It is our collective responsibility to preserve, protect, and transmit it to future generations.
The throne of the Great Benin Kingdom represents our history, authority, and cultural soul, and as such must be held in the highest reverence by all Edolites, without exception.
Our culture and traditions are unique, profound, and globally respected, they must continually be upheld with dignity and honor.
In the interest of genuine reconciliation and lasting peace, the proposed peace resolution must be inclusive.
It is imperative that credible Benin leaders in the diaspora are formally included to ensure broad-based representation.
Excluding Edolites in the diaspora creates a noticeable gap and undermines the completeness of the process.
Unity, inclusiveness, respect for tradition, and collective responsibility remain the pathway to enduring peace and progress.
