CITIZENS COMPASS— Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday, openly declared Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abiodun made this announcement during a strategic caucus meeting of the party.

A viral video revealed the outcome of the meeting where Abiodun told party members that a decision had already been reached on who should fly the party’s flag.

According to him, “But first, we’ve decided who is deserving as the next flag bearer of our dear state,” the governor said.

Following the announcement, Adeola stood up to loud cheers from supporters, with chants and celebrations filling the venue.

Abiodun also spoke on the importance of political continuity within the APC, referencing previous leadership transitions and stressing the need for unity in selecting a successor capable of sustaining the party’s dominance in the state.

The meeting, attended by key party figures, is seen as a major development ahead of the 2027 governorship race, with insiders suggesting the endorsement could shape and potentially narrow the field of aspirants within the party.
