Ogun Police arrest teenage herdsman with AK 47

OPERATIVES of Ogun State Police Command has, apprehended a teenage herdsman with an AK 47 riffle.

In a press statement, the Spokesperson of the Command, Abimbola Opeyemi, said the suspect who identified himself as Mohammed, was arrested following information received by the Divisional Police Officer DPO, Imeko, that two young Fulani boys were sighted along CAC Oha Forest, Iwoye Ketu in Imeko Afon Local Government Area with Ak 47 riffle.

“Upon the information, the DPO quickly mobilized his men, other stakeholders like the hunters, Vigilante men, and stormed the said forest.

‘After hours of combing the forest, one Mohammed was seen hiding in the bush with an AK 47 riffle, and was promptly arrested.

The Police statement said the arrested armed boy is strongly suspected to be a member of kidnap syndicates who have been terrorizing the area for quite some time now.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

He has also directed that the entire forest be properly combed with the view to apprehending other members of the gang.
