...kicks against last minutes rush

CITIZENS COMPASS- A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  Chief Sunny Onuesoke has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for yielding to the yearnings of innocent Nigerians by extending the deadline for swapping the old naira notes.

In a chat with Citizens Compass on Monday, January 30, 2022, the former Delta State Gubernatorial aspirant hailed Mr President for his approval to the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emiefele for the extending the deadline for 10 days.

He said the extension is a sign of good leadership and statesmanship adding that the window will enable Nigerians especially those in remote areas to key into the extension by swapping their old currencies.

Recall that many Nigerians and pressure groups have cried out about non availability of the new naira notes.and need to extend the deadline for the naira swap.

He said the deadline extension is a relief and answered prayers for the masses.

President Muhammadu Buhari approved the extension of the deadline to February 10th, 2023 on Sunday.

“The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele to put strict measures in place in the commercial banks to avert a situation where some money bags Nigerians will buy off the available new currency in bulk at the expense of the masses thereby creating further scarcity as experienced recently.”

He equally advised the masses to seize the opportunity to change their old notes to new ones rather than embarking on last minutes rush.
