CITIZENS COMPASS— Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Wednesday, named its ultra-modern two-storey legislative building after the Lagos State Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi, as it rounds off activities marking the 100 days of its Council Chairman, Kareem Azeez Abiodun, in office.
The building was named, Hon. Ojelabi Legislative Block which was commissioned by Ojelabi.
The three-in-one event also saw 100 beneficiaries coasting home with Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand (N250,000) each as part of the Council’s commitment for Small and Medium size Enterprise (SMEs).
The event also witnessed the commissioning of a mobile clinic by the Council.
Speaking, Ojelabi admonished the Council to continue the laid down grassroots programmes by the party.
Speaking, Abiodun said he would not renege on his promises of developmental projects in the area.
According to him, “It is with great pleasure that I stand before you today at the grand finale of 100 days in office celebration, giving glory to God for His grace upon us. 1 appreciate our amiable and visionary leader, the executive governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his unwavering commitment to sustainable development.
“In the process of fulfilling our campaign promises, you will recall on assumption of office, I felt challenged with the enormous challenges of infrastructural decay in our primary schools, in the primary health centres, roads, culverts, drainages and infrastructure. With limited resources at our disposal, the task of surmounting the challenges have become an Herculean task.
“Today, I am happy to inform you that with God on our side, history is made. As we celebrate an historic building that will stand the test of time. We will be commissioning the ultra-modern two-storey legislative building, presenting patrol vehicles to security personnel, and N250,000 business support to 100 beneficiaries. We’re also supporting the women development initiative with Million naira.
“Here’s a recap of projects completed within 100 days:
•Renovated and equipped Skills Acquisition Centre, ljanikin- renovated Adaloko Town Hall.
• Renovated Ajewanwa Nursery and Primary School.
– Construction of public toilet, Shibiri Ekunpa Area Office
-Ese-Ofin jetty footbridge and interlocking road to the town.
– Baale street road, drainages, culverts, and solar energy street lights, Shibiri Ekunpa.
-Jesuwame street road, culverts, earth drainages, and solar energy street lights, Igbonla.
• Construction of ultra modern two-storey legislative building and well furnished council secretariat.”
He mentioned some ongoing projects including construction of a 12-classroom building at llemba-Awori, grading of Oko-Ago and Cele roads, rehabilitation of schools, and installation of Solar energy street lights at Cele bus stop, Alasia bus stop, Federal second gate, police division Ijanikin solar energy light and Ijanikin Primary Health Centre (PHC) solar energy light among others.
Speaking with Citizens Compass shortly after the event, some residents expressed joy at the developmental.projects carried out by Abiodun’s administration.
