Passengers escape death as fire guts bus in Lagos

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– MANY passengers of a commercial bus escaped being burnt on Wednesday, when fire erupted from the bus at Jakande area of Lagos/Epe Expressway.

The incident occurred at about 4pm inward Chisco when the bus was on motion.

According to a commercial driver, Joel Ovie, the bus was inward Chisco when the driver sensed something going wrong but before a twinkle of an eye, fire erupted from the bus and this caused panic among the passengers who hurriedly escaped from the bus.

Fortunately, men of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) came to the aid of the driver by bringing the situation under control.

Confirming the incident on its Tweeter handle, LASTMA said, “A commercial bus on fire at Jakande inward Chisco, no Casualties involved while process is on to put off the fire.
Slight backlog gathering momentum at the moment but still under control.

“The fire has been put off with the help of water tanker and @LagosRescue combined efforts.
The burnt vehicle has been pushed to the side of the road. Normalcy resorted while traffic is now moving faster.”
