The committees made the declaration after their joint meeting on Friday, November 6, where they reviewed progress made in the ongoing implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) reforms.

According to the committees, the government has recorded significant milestones, including the successful enrolment and verification of state and local government employees, consistent remittance of monthly pension deductions, and the approval of palliative support payments to retirees in the state.

They noted that over 24,000 workers have so far received their accrued pension rights, while death benefits have also been paid to 352 families of deceased employees. In addition, existing pension laws were reviewed to strengthen administration, accountability, and sustainability of pension processes.
