Police grill Paul Adefarasin for flashing gun-like-object in Lagos

CITIZENS COMPASS— Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, grilled the Senior Pastor and Founder of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, for allegedly brandishing a gun-like-object in a viral video.

The recent video posted by a content creator captured the cleric flashing the object while seated in a vehicle.

This has stirred controversies on social media and attracted law enforcement agencies as Police began investigations.

The pastor has since debunked this in one of his social media posts.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” the statement reads.

“I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

The creator claimed the 62-year-old clergyman pointed a gun at him for recording his vehicle.

In the 10-second video, a black Range Rover slowed near the content creator, and the tinted window rolled down. The content creator is heard greeting Adefarasin, but the pastor appears to respond sternly while holding the object as the content creator quickly apologised.

On Tuesday, Adefarasin turned himself in to the Police which was confirmed by spokesperson for the Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement.

According to him, “No one is above the law!

“Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user,

while driving in an unregistered vehicle.

“The outcome of the investigation will be made public.”
