CITIZENS COMPASS—A Police Inspector, with 28 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Umuahia, Abia State, Bassey Asuquo, has reportedly died of suicide.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 2a.m, yesterday, in Sarkin-Pawa, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.
This was contained in a post on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on Thursday.
Inspector Asuquo had been exhibiting signs of abnormal behaviour before the tragic incident.
“As a precautionary measure, his Unit Commander had reportedly instructed that his rifle be retrieved and secured in the armoury of the Sarkin-Pawa Police Division,” the post noted.
The officer was said to be on a special duty when he decided to end it all.
It was gathered that the deceased gained access to a rifle belonging to another officer who was asleep at the time and allegedly shot himself in the head.
This reportedly drew attention and his colleagues rushed to the scene but this was too late and his remains were deposited at the morgue.
