CITIZENS COMPASS – OPERATIVES of Ogun State Police Command has a suspected cultist terrorising Olomore and Soyoye areas of the state.
Spokesperson of the Command, SP Omolola Odutola who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, June 12, 2023, said the suspect, 30 years old Damilare Olamilekan was arrested on June 10, 2023 by the Lafenwa Division.
She said the suspect has since confessed to be a burglar and member of Eiye Confraternity who specialises in dispossessing unsuspecting road users.
The statement reads, “The DPO CSP Kayode Shedrack recorded this feat after several attempts to arrest these criminals proved abortive, but on 10th of June 2023 the efforts of a Lafenwa Divisional Police Officer has yielded a satisfactory result through the aid of a tracking device and relying on previous forensic evidences, one Damilare Olamilekan, “M” age 30 years has been arrested.
“On detailed interrogation Damilare Olamilekan confessed that himself and his other gang members reportedly still at large were involved in committing series of heinous crimes within Olomore, Soyoye and Ogun Radio axis of Abeokuta averred that they arm themselves with cutlasses and knives, stones, these tools are what they use to threaten their victim scaring them and thereby dispossess them of their valuables such as phones, laptops, ATM, and monies.
“The suspected armed robber who has made confessional statements implicating other three who are now at large, admitted that he is an active member of Eiye Confraternity. He has led the Divisional Police Officer to the location where their gang’s operational weapons were kept around WAPCO and have since been recovered to the Police station.
“Preliminary investigation is currently ongoing whiles recoveries of stolen items found in his possession during a search conducted in his residence have been marked as exhibits and recovered to the police station.
” The Area Commander Metro has directed a manhunt for the remaining suspects to be arrested.
” The Ogun State Police Command is charging against criminals especially cultist and armed robbers, they will be caught, the Command will ensure more arrest is made and more syndicate will answer for their criminalities.
” Every DPO under the commissioner of Police Ogun State Police Command is on Red alert . The CP Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji psc continues to ring a bell “see something say something” he is also calling on the good people of Ogun to support the police by volunteering anonymous information to report anyone they know engages in crime, because criminals hobnobs among them, as they are not spirits but humans, and such tip off will be of immense advantage which will culminate the police to swing into action,this he said while reassuring Ogun people of his commitment to zero tolerance for cultism and armed robbery.””
