This took place at Local Government School, Oreta and Lajo Community School, Lajo in Igbogbo/Baiyeku where the Council chairman under the platform of APC inaugurated a block of five classrooms in Oreta and perimeter fencing in Lajo, for the use of the students.

The ground breaking ceremony of the projects took place on Friday, July 28, 2023 in a low-keyed ceremony.

Upon arrival at the inauguration, the Council chairman Olusesan Mayokun Daini popularly known as Builder Daini said the fully furnished block of classrooms was to assure residents that his administration remains committed to the pursuit of educational goals in the LCDA.

According to him, investing in education is crucial for any government to secure the future of its society.
He said, “From the start, our commitment to education at all levels in our area has never been in doubt.”

“Our focus on education is predicated on several complementary interventions, including physical infrastructure, technology, teachers and students’ welfare, and the reduction in the number of out-of-school children in the LCDA,” he said.

Furthering, he said, “Subsidy removal is a major issue that we are tackling in this country and this is one of the major reasons why the local government is able to deliver this project within a space of six weeks.

“We wouldn’t have done this if not for subsidy. The palliatives must have direct impacts on our people, on education, health and general development of our community. In addition, we would be inaugurating more projects, some of which are the Oreta Primary Health Center that we facilitated, a new Primary School in the Oshorun area of Ibeshe, and the new Olu-Odo Primary School in Olu-Odo town.

“We have equally focused on the provision of educational materials like exercise books for over 11,000 pupils across the 13 primary schools in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA to ensure effective academic performance of our pupils.

“We were here on July 28, 2023, to lay the foundation of this building. And I promised the students, staff, the head teacher and the community that we are going to deliver this project. Today, by the grace of God, with the support of all my team, and the council, we are here to inaugurate the school building.”

Also speaking, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, former Secretary to the Lagos State Government thanked Daini for bringing back the memory of investing in primary education saying, “You have done very well to bring back free education in the council area.

“Daini has done well so far by carrying the leaders in Ikorodu Division along about his plans. I commend him and also congratulate him for this great achievement.” Basorun stated.

The Council boss charged the school management to use the facilities judiciously and responsibly.

“Shun all forms of vandalism and carelessness and treat these buildings and projects as public goods that must be maintained for future generations,” he said.

He went further to extend his appreciation to Prince Adewunmi Ogunsanya for his philanthropist nature in renovating another block of classrooms in the school.

The Educational Secretary, Ikorodu Division, Mr Afolabi Amusa described Daini as “a builder, an accomplisher and man of great vision. ”

In his remarks, the former principal said the feat was another step in the transformation quest for development of schools in the LCDA.
Stating that the Daini-led administration has positively tilted towards educational development.

Appreciating the massive achievements of the Chairman, he said his achievements have been all encompassing, “no sector is left behind.”

In a chat with journalists, the Council chairman recounted why he went out of his ways to erect a permeter fencing in Lajo Primary School which include complaints from the school management and the Community Development Association (CDA) some weeks ago.

In a chat with one of the residents, Olaiya Kolawole, he said “this is a positive development for the school and the community, and it shows that Builder Olusesan Daini is committed to improving the state of education not only in Lajo Community but also in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA at large.
“The full fencing of the school will help to prevent unauthorized access and protect school facilities.” He added.

Present at the occasion were former Minister for Works, Seye Ogunlewe, the Adegboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiu Kasali, the Emugoriade 1, Vice Chairman of IBLCDA, Hon Nuraini Okedina-Maja, the Council Manager, Mr Waheed Tijani, Hon Nurudeen Alimi, Leader of the IBLCDA Legislative Arm and other dignitaries among others.
