So-Safe Corps nabs Republic of Benin robbery suspect

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– THE Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps – So-Safe Corps has apprehended a robbery suspect who id on the black list of Republic of Benin.

The suspect was apprehended at about 0800hrs on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

The security outfit disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

The statement was issued from the office of the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander, Moruf Yusuf.

He said the arrest was based on the existing security relationship between the Corps and Benin Republic as the former was alerted few weeks ago to assist in apprehending the suspect who escaped arrest and suspected to be hibernating in Nigeria while the kingpin of the team is in their custody.

Ganzallo said that the robbery suspect, Mr Mishodi Awiagin, was sighted from far distance in Ayetoro in Ipokia Local Government Area by the Ipokia Area Command Special Patrol Team on routine patrol led by the Area Commander, ACC Yusuf Aliu.

 

“Sighting the security outfit, the suspect took to his heels but was given a hot chase.”

 

Ganzallo in the statement revealed that the suspect was captured alive without any injury.

 

“During preliminary investigation, he confessed that he is a native doctor by profession in the country and that he truly fled Republic of Benin to escape arrest for his involvement in a number of serious crimes.”

 

He said the suspect had been transferred to Sakete Police, Republic of Benin for further investigation and likely prosecution.
