CITIZENS COMPASS —THE Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps codenamed So-Safe has arrested 38 years old Mathew Ifeanyi, who allegedly macheted his biological father to death in Ogun.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11, Ibikunle Street, Diamond Estate, along Olorunda Area, Eruobodo Ntabo, Ijoko in Ado Odo, Ota Local Government of the State.
The middle-aged man was said to have been attacking his biological father with cutlass.
So-Safe in a press statement released through the office of its State Commander, (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, said that on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, information got to Superintendent Alabi Gafar, the Divisional Officer of the Corps at Alade/Atago/Ntabo Divisional Command that at 11, Ibikunle Street, Diamond Estate, along Olorunda Area, Eruobodo Ntabo, Ijoko in Ado Odo, Ota Local Government Area.
Ganzallo noted that the Divisional Command patrol team were thereafter instructed to rescue the helpless parent Anthony Nnadike, 100 years old and to get the son arrested, and they swung into action immediately.
Ganzallo sadly revealed that on getting to the scene, the victim has been rushed down to the nearest general hospital due to the injury sustained and in a critical condition, until he was later confirmed dead by the doctor.
He said the culprit after restricting arrest was thereafter apprehended stressing that during preliminary investigation into what prompted the arrested son to allegedly murder his father, he said that inability of his father to refund the sum of N70,000 he entrusted his father with since July 22, 2022.
He further confessed that he took the action since he resigned from his previous job to embark on his private business but his now late father couldn’t provide him the money.
The suspect has however been transfered to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Headquarter for further investigation and likely prosecution.
