State CID investigates killing of lover in Ikorodu

…As former husband appears

CITIZENS COMPASS– The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in Lagos State, has commenced investigations into the murder of a woman identified as Ronke who was stabbed by her 63-year-old lover, Joseph Popoola, at Ori-Okuta, Agric, Ikorodu area of the State.

Citizens Compass reported that the woman was stabbed by her lover, a banker, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, following an argument in her apartment.
Citizens Compass also reported that one of the woman’s daughters was hospitalised at the General Hospital, Ikorodu after she was stabbed by the lover who is now on the run.

Sources in the neighborhood told our Correspondent that the State CID has stepped into the matter following a petition by a human rights activist.
It was gathered that the former husband of the woman who was legally married to her had appeared to inquire about the gruesome murder.

The former husband was said to have appeared alongside a younger sibling to the one in the hospital.

The petition by the human rights activist is being attended to by an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The suspect was said to have initially poured hot water on the deceased before stabbing her to death.
The woman’s daughter was also stabbed in the abdomen resulting in her being hospitalised.

Before his escape, the lover was said to have cut a part of the deceased’s thigh and shaved her pubic hair.
He was said to have left his phone behind.
