CITIZENS COMPASS—A female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, Imo State, was reportedly found dead with her throat slit on Tuesday.
Her body was found in a private off-campus apartment.
The Imo state Police Command has confirmed the incident saying it has launched an investigation into the murder.
Spokesperson for the Command, DSP Okoye Henry, in a statement, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) within the area of jurisdiction promptly visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, after which the body was recovered and deposited at the morgue, while investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest those responsible.
Okoye mentioned that one suspect has been arrested for preliminary questioning to assist ongoing investigations.
He appealed to students and members of the public to remain calm, assuring that the situation is under control and that every effort is being made to ensure those behind the act are brought to justice.
