Suspected kidnappers attack RCCG, kill pastor, kidnap church members 

.. So-Safe rescues victims, suspect dies in battle 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Suspected kidnappers have attacked the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area killing the church pastor and kidnapped seven worshippers.

The incident occurred during a vigil.

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps also known as So-Safe Corps who disclosed this on Sunday, July 2, 2023, said it has rescued the kidnapped victims.

This is contained in a press release issued on Sunday, July 2, 2023, from the office of the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

The statement reads, “at about 2400hrs on Saturday,1st. July, 2023, the special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi received a distress call that some members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.

Ganzallo noted that the Officers of the Corps were charged to go after the suspected criminals, instructed to ensure the victims were rescued unhurt and the officers immediately swung into action. 

Ganzallo further revealed that the efforts of the Corps yielded a positive result and the seven victims were rescued unhurt while one of the kidnappers lost his life to the battle and some of the suspects sustained serious injuries during a fire exchange. 

Ganzallo also revealed  that the joint team of the Nigeria Police and the So-Safe Corps are strategically after the fleeing suspected kidnappers to capture them alive. 

Ganzallo concluded that the body of the kidnapper that died during the crossfire had been deposited in the nearby morgue.
