TRAGEDY struck on Tuesday, during the All Progressives Congress (APC), Presidential Primaries, in Abuja as Alhaji Isa Baba Buji, one of the delegates from Buji Local Government Area (LGA) of Jigawa State, died while the convention was ongoing.
He was aged 61.
The cause of his death could not be ascertained at press time.
Reacting to the death on Tuesday afternoon, Vice-President of Nigeria and a presidential hopeful under the umbrella of APC, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, said he is saddened by the news of the delegate’s death.
In a statement by his media aide Laolu Akande, Osinbajo extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, associates, government and people of the Jigawa State. He also prayed that his soul rests in peace.
2,322 delegates from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to elect the flagbearer of the ruling party for the 2023 presidential election.
