Tricyclist, passengers die along Lagos – Abeokuta Expressway 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – THREE persons were confirmed dead on over the weekend, in two separate road accidents 

at Ifo market, along the Abeokuta-Sango highway, Ogun State.

The accidens was said to have involved a tricycle and a pick-up van which rammed into a stationary Mack truck from the rear. 

Three people were said to have died on the spot while three others were injured. 

Spokesperson, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the accidents. 

He said the crashes occurred on Saturday night and in the early hours of Sunday.

According to him, the Mack truck travelling inward Abeokuta had its propeller pulled off while on motion, thereby rendering it immobile.

The truck, with number plate T-7827LA, was then stationed off the road with caution tapes and cones used to separate it from the main road.

However, a speeding tricycle with number plate JGB724WB rammed into the truck on Saturday night.

“The rider died in the process and passengers suffered injuries,” 

Akinbiyi added that a Nissan Pick-Up van, with number plate GEN 256 XA, also ran into the truck on Sunday morning, killing the driver and one of the passengers.

The bodies of the deceased, he informed, have been deposited at the General Hospital, Ifo, while the injured are receiving treatment in the same hospital.

” The accidented vehicles have been taken to the Divisional Police Station, Ifo, for further investigation.

” While TRACE and the Police commiserate with the dead victims, drivers are again warned to avoid nite travels and excessive speed in view of it’s attendant consequences .
