Why Jubril Abdul Kareem deserves automatic ticket for Lagos Assembly —Groups

CITIZENS COMPASS— Human rights bodies, the Ambassadors for Democracy (AD) and the Center for Democracy and Justice (CDJ) on Friday, explained why a Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Jubril Ayodeji Abdul Kareem deserves a second term.

The lawmaker is currently serving under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Comrades Ola Folorunsho, Chairman, Centre for Democracy and Justice (CDJ) and Kokawole Bello, Secretary, Ambassadors for Democracy (AD), who disclosed this in a statement said:

The Ambassadors for Democracy (AD) and the Center for Democracy and Justice (CDJ) wish to state, without mincing words, that Hon. Jubril Ayodeji Abdul Kareem, member representing Agege 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly deserves the automatic right to the second term ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Record of silent, impactful achievement

Hon. Jubril Abdul Kareem is not a man of empty noise but of solid results. As the saying goes, Empty vessels make the loudest sound. Jubril is the proverbial silent builder of people and communities whose work speaks louder than propaganda.

Proven capacity in governance

Before his election to the House of Assembly, Hon. Jubril Abdul Kareem served as council chairman of Agege Local Government. The administrative template he laid down was so solid that it became the blueprint his successors still rely on today. You do not change a winning team in the middle of the match

Legislative competence. 

In the Lagos State House of Assembly, he has sponsored people-oriented motions, facilitated infrastructure interventions, and remained a bridge between Orile Agege LCDA and Agege Local government and the state government. His tenure has brought-dividends of democracy-to the grassroots without fanfare.

Character and accessibility

Hon. Jubril is God-fearing, simple, humble, and accessible to all. A tree is known by its fruit. His constituents testify that his doors remain open to the high and low. He has sacrificed personal comfort and resources for the growth of the APC in Agege in general.

Equity

History and fairness must guide us. You cannot shave a man’s head in his absence.

The facts are clear :

Precedent of multiple terms. No legislator of Agege 02 has ever served a single term. Hon. Samuel Babatunde Adejare served two terms before proceeding to the House of Representatives. Hon. Oluyinka Ogundimu served three consecutive terms.

Geopolitical balance

Agege 02 comprises parts of Agege Local government such as Keke, Ogba and Oke koto to mention but a few.

It also coversOrile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) which comprises Orile Agege, Tabontabon, Oko Oba and other places.

Both preceding legislators were from the Orile Agege LCDA.

The only legislator from the Orile Agege, Hon. Adejare, served for a period of eight years.

To now deny Hon. Jubril Abdul Kareem from the Keke area of Agege Local Government area, a second term is like institutionalising unfairness. One good turn deserves another. The APC must not be seen to use different measuring scales for the same constituency.

Warning

We are aware that some noise makers are jostling to displace Hon. Jubril Abdul Kareem . Let it be known that their agitation is not in the interest of Agege 02 nor in the interest of Agege as a whole nor the party but a clandestine plot to serve a hidden agenda. A bird does not change its feathers because the weather is bad.

APC is a progressive party built on fairness, reward for loyalty, and continuity of good works.

Our appeal

We, the Ambassadors for Democracy (AD) and the Center for Democracy and Justice (CDJ) appeal to all leaders of the APC in Agege Local Government, Lagos State, and at the National level not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Do not allow the derailment of the progressive impact the party is having on the people of Agege 02.

Hon. Jubril needs a second term to consolidate himself because. cutting short a tenure of a proven performance is like killing the hen that lays the golden egg.

Hon. Jubril Ayodeji Abdul Kareem will definitely make the APC proud as he has sacrificed alot for the party. He deserves a second term.
