CITIZENS COMPASS – A Houston mother was sentenced to life in prison for beating her infant daughter to death, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced.
Tradezsha Trenay Bibbs, 29, was found guilty of felony murder for the April 16, 2016, killing of 4-month-old Brielle Robinson, and was sentenced on Monday, April 3.
Authorities responded to a call in 2016 and were dispatched to the Red Carpet Inn on the Gulf Freeway, where they discovered Bibbs in a room with Brielle.
When she heard her daughter wailing, Bibbs allegedly scooped her up by the arms and dropped her on the bed, causing the child to fall to the floor, according to court documents from the time. Bibbs allegedly continued to strike her daughter until the daughter till she was unconscious.
Later, Brielle was sent to Texas Children’s Hospital, where medical staff discovered that she had sustained significant brain trauma in addition to several fractures.
Bibbs initially told officials that Brielle had slipped from her car seat to the concrete, but later admitted fabricating that account. She later told Bibbs initially told officials that Brielle had slipped from her car seat to the concrete, but later admitted fabricating that account. She later told police that shortly after checking into the motel with the baby, she lost concern for the child’s safety and frequently dropped and “popped” the baby in the face.
When the baby stopped crying, Bibbs allegedly repeatedly hit her in the ribs and chest before dialing 911 when the baby’s breathing ceased.
Forcht stated that Bibbs “deserved a life sentence for what she did to her child.” “She beat her repeatedly and appeared to care more about her daughter’s demise than her life,” said one witness.
A newborn is the most innocent of victims, our office stands up for them all, Ogg said. “We thought a life sentence for this heinous murder was justified, and a Harris County jury agreed.
