YIF President, Aderibole in USA as UN organises 70th session on status of women

CITIZENS COMPASS— Dr Olumide Aderibole Phillip, President, Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF) Worldwide, has joined other leaders across the world to attend the 70th Session on the Status of Women and girls ongoing in the United States of America (USA).

The two weeks sessions organised by United Nations (UN) is ongoing at UN Headquarters in New York.

It kicked off on Monday, March 9, 2026 and will close on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, the event featured an Interactive expert panel on the priority theme: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers while on Monday, March 9, 2026, it featured a round table on focus area: Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all older women among others.

Speaking shortly with Citizens Compass after one of the sessions, Aderibole expressed happiness that the programme would have positive impacts on women.and girls in the world.

According to the Yoruba leader: The world beams its searchlight on domestic violence against women and girls in the society and how girls could be useful to the society at large.

When you look at young ladies of today, a lot of atrocities and social vices are being committed but the 70th Session is addressing this and proffering solution.

The programme features various sessions towards building our women and girls to guide against domestic violence.
