Lagos Taskforce apprehends 84 suspected criminals in Agege 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS–The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit on Friday, apprehended 84 suspects for various offences in Agege area of the State.

The suspects comprising 82 males and two females were apprehended in targeted key areas including Railway corridor,Oke koto, Isale Oja, AP roundabout and other adjoining streets in the area.

The routine enforcement and clean-up operation were carried out in the early hours of the day.

The operation, which commenced at approximately 12:35 a.m., was led by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele.

Speaking after the enforcement, the Chairman said these areas had been flagged through numerous complaints and distress calls indicating the presence of street urchins, miscreants, hooligans, pickpockets, and other suspected criminals, especially during late hours.

“During the raid, a total of eighty-four (84) suspects comprising eightytwo (82) males and two (2) females were apprehended. The Agency successfully restored order and sanity to all locations visited.”

On the outcome of the operation, the Chairman issued a stern warning to criminal elements, stressing that the Agency would not relent in its commitment to ensuring the environmental decorum and security of lives and property across the State.

“The recalcitrant violators of laws should desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.”

According to Akerele, the exercise forms part of an ongoing strategy to conduct routine enforcement operations at least thrice-weekly, aimed at gradually eliminating criminal activities and safeguarding law-abiding residents and businesses in the area.

“All suspects arrested during the operation have been charged to court accordingly.

“The Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to ensuring a safer, cleaner, and more secure environment for all Lagosians”.
