
Groom collapses, dies at wedding reception
CITIZENS COMPASS—A groom identified as Ashraf Abu Hakam, has reportedly collapsed and died while dancing with his bride at a wedding reception in Aswan Governorate, Egypt.
The incident occurred last Thursday.
A trending video captured the tragic incident.
He died in the presence of his family.
In the clip, the couple could be seen hand-in-hand, waving Saidi sticks — solid poles traditionally used in the Egyptian Saidi dance. Moments later, Hakam suddenly lost balance and collapsed to the ground while still holding his bride’s hand.
Guests rushed to his side in panic as the lively music and cheers instantly gave way to screams and confusion. The video showed the groom lying flat on his back as attempts were made to revive him.
Sadly, all efforts failed, and doctors later confirmed that Hakam had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest.
The devastating news spread quickly across Egyptian social media, with many expressing disbelief and sending condolences to the grieving bride and both families.
What was meant to be the happiest day of their lives ended in unimaginable sorrow, leaving a community mourning the untimely loss.
