Federal Government slashes cost of dialysis to N12,000

 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Federal Government of Nigeria said it has reduced the cost of kidney dialysis to N12,000 per session.

The cost was previously ₦50,000 per session, a 76 per cent reduction.

The initiative aims to make dialysis more affordable for thousands of Nigerians battling kidney-related diseases.

The service would be available in some public hospitals like: The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute-Metta, Lagos; The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja; the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri.

Others include the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH); the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta; the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos; the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare; the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin; the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar, and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.

This initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to ensure Nigerians have access to affordable healthcare.

It will rekindle the hope of many kidney patients in the country.

Speaking with Citizens Compass on Sunday, a Lagosian, Akinmade Adeola who narrated his experience in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said a private hospital once told him that all the operators of their dialysis machine have abandoned the job to seek greener pastures overseas.
