CITIZENS COMPASS—The Presiding Bishop of the Christ Royal International Church, Tom Samson, has called on the federal government to improve power supply and roads across the country.
The cleric made the demand on Sunday while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the annual Zion Mega Convention organised by the Calvary Kingdom Church International (CKC), Ojo, Lagos State.
CKC, situated along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway has Archbishop Joseph Imariabe Ojo as its helmsman.
The week-long event was held at the CKC Ambassador Cathedral, on the Expressway.
Bishop Tom Samson said if Nigerians enjoy adequate power supply and good roads, the nation would favourable compete with other countries of the world particularly in terms of democracy.
The Bishop who was the Guest Minister for the programme called on the government at all levels to introduce programmes that would improve the standard of living of many Nigerians as such would depend on the government. He said, “The progress of this country starts with the fear of the Lord. People blame the church on many occasions but the most important thing is that our leaders should rule with the fear of God.
“A leader determines the progress of a nation not minding his religious background. The government policies can shape the nation for the better. Our leaders should begin to receive the word of God to paddle the affairs of this country. When men fail, prayers will not.
“Many issues have happened in this country that would have led to crisis and war but God has kept this nation going. Nobody should over rule the role of prayer. My take is that our leadership should work in the fear of God.” Said the cleric.
While fielding questions from journalists, Archbishop Ojo urged Nigerians to keep their spirits high calling on the government to bring smiles on the faces of the hungry. He said, “Nigerians should never give up hope. The culture of the Kingdom is faith and belief. Our leaders can come up with a policy that will bring joy to you and I. We shouldn’t give up.”
Earlier, Archbishop Ojo said, the theme of the programme,“The Culture of the Kingdom,” was inspirational, describing CKC as a kingdom of God with different tribes with prayer and fellowship in common. He added that unity and love are necessities.
According to him, “Culture of the kingdom talks about how to behave in the house of God. Every kingdom has its behavioral pattern: For instance, an Igbo man hardly behaves like a Yoruba man, likewise, an Edo man hardly behaves like a Hausa man. The same applies to the kingdom of God: When you are born again, there are values and tenets that a child of God should observe, that is permissible or not permissible. The theme of this programme came by inspiration from the scriptures just like politicians get their inspiration from the philosophy or the general occurrences in the country. They are motivated to oversee their pursuit. So the scripture is the word of God teaching us about how to conduct ourselves in the house of God.”
Quoting from Timothy 1 vs 14-15 where the theme was picked, he said, “People must conduct themselves in the house of God.There are so many ministries today whose ministers do not understand how people should conduct themselves either in the house of God or on the pulpit.
“They may not have the idea except you teach them. Jesus Christ said, ‘go and teach all nations what I have commanded.’ That is what the theme is all about.
The Archbishop stressed that revelation of God to humanity is progressive as God could disseminate the gospel through various channels.
He called for unity among Nigerians saying this is one of the strengths and culture of the New Testament.
During his sermon, Bishop Tom Samson described the theme as what was expected of a believer. He implored everyone to acknowledge God in all their ways as He shall direct their paths.
Quoting from the scriptures, he urged the congregation to be spiritual, creative, innovate and strive to be the best at all times.
