According to FRSC Lagos Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Oluwadamilola Jayeola, operatives responded promptly to all the crashes within minutes, ensuring quick rescue operations, removal of obstructions, and restoration of traffic flow.

FRSC gave detailed account of the crashes as follows:

She said the first crash occurred at about 2000HRS, on Wednesday involving Two White DAF trucks with number plates GGE 24 YJ & SBG 192 XB, with seven persons involved (all male).

While the accident did not record fatalities or casualties, she attributed the probable cause of the accident to Speed Violation (SPV) and Loss of Control (LOC)

“No injury recorded; obstruction promptly cleared by FRSC personnel in conjunction with Ojodu-Abiodun Police Division.” Said the Public Education Officer.

Jayeola said the second crash, involving Two unidentified DAF trucks also occurred on Wednesday,at about 2140HRS.

She said Six male persons were Involved: Two injured and four deaths were recorded, “Probable Cause was Speed Violation and Loss of Control. Injured victims were evacuated, one taken to AZ Hospital, Magboro, and the other to the Lagos State Accident & Emergency Centre, Ojota. Joint rescue operations were carried out by FRSC, the Nigeria Police, and the Lagos State Fire Service.”

As for the Third crash, she said this occurred at about 2215HRS

on Wednesday. “Vehicle Involved was a lone yellow truck (details yet to be confirmed) which recorded a fatality with probable cause of the accident to be Reckless Overtaking (ROB) and Loss of Control. “The deceased was conveyed to a mortuary by an ambulance from the Lagos State Ministry of Health.”

The Fourth crash, she said, occurred at 0520HRS on Thursday. “Vehicles Involved were a Blue tow truck and another truck (still submerged in the Isheri River at the time of report).

She said five persons were involved with two injured and one fatality giving the probable cause as Reckless Overtaking and Loss of Control. “Recovery operations are ongoing as FRSC, the Nigeria Police, and Lagos State emergency services work to remove the submerged truck and clear the scene for normal traffic flow.

“These crashes within a short timeframe around Kara Bridge underscore the dangers of speeding, loss of control, and poor night driving discipline along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

“The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat therefore appeals to all motorists, especially truck drivers and fleet operators to obey all road traffic regulations.”
