CITIZENS COMPASS— Over 100 journalists on Friday, scrambled for accreditation tags ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention in Abuja
The incident occurred at the Kano Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.
The journalists—both accredited and non-accredited were said to have stormed the venue in a bid to secure accreditation tags for coverage of the convention.
Trouble began earlier in the day when the coordinator in charge of the tags announced that only a limited number of tags were available.
According to the coordinator, most of the tags designated for APC correspondents had already been distributed, leaving only a few remaining.
The announcement triggered agitation among the journalists, many of whom expressed frustration over what they described as a lack of proper planning and transparency in the accreditation process.
Many of the journalists expressed anger and frustration at the venue a situation which almost led to unrest before law enforcement agents waded into the scene.
