CITIZENS COMPASS— The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS2.2 Ogun Sector Command, yesterday, joined its sub-region to commemorate the West African Road Safety Organization (WARSO) Day.

Held at the Sector Command Headquarters, the event was themed “From Ratification to Action: Implementing the African Road Safety Charter,” focusing on moving beyond policy toward tangible results in road crash reduction.

In his keynote remarks, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, underscored the vital importance of synergy. He called for a renewed commitment to road safety initiatives and urged stakeholders to strengthen collaborations to foster a safer motoring environment across Ogun State and Nigeria.

The event featured a lecture by the Guest Speaker, ACM Rotimi Adeleye (Rtd), who was represented by CC I.O. Martins (Rtd). The presentation highlighted two critical pillars for success: the empowerment of community-based road safety responders and the rigorous enforcement of transport safety policies.

These strategies were identified as essential for the effective implementation of the African Road Safety Charter.

The commemoration drew a wide range of security and transport stakeholders, including representatives from:

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), So-Safe Corps, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Ogunjobi offered safety advice to all attendees, reiterating the Corps’ primary goal: ensuring that every journey ends safely.

The Deputy Sector Commander and Head of Operations, DCC S.O. Taiwo, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the various agencies and transport unions for their unwavering support in the collective mission to achieve safer roads.
