Adeleke clarifies purpose of visit to Tinubu

CITIZENS COMPASS—The campaign team for Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Friday, clarified the purpose of yesterday’s visit by the governor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu just as it dismissed the possibility of defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The team, Imole Campaign Council in Osun State, dismissed the rumour making the rounds about defection.

Recall that Adeleke was re-elected on Saturday, August 15, 2026, during the Governorship election in the State.

The governor paid a visit to Tinubu yesterday which has created mixed feelings among Nigerians, many of whom were looking at the possibility of defection.

However, in a statement, Bamidele Salam, Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the Imole Campaign Council, said the visit was on neutral ground.

The statement reads: “The Imole Campaign Council wishes to state that the visit by Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday is in line with customs and political tradition at the conclusion of off cycle elections in Nigeria,

“The visit also afforded Mr. President as the father of the Nation and the Osun State Governor a platform to discuss issues pertaining to peace, security and progress of Osun State after the tense election.
