… Governor takes decisive step
CITIZENS COMPASS— The crisis in Osun State deepened on Sunday, as Comrade Olalekan Ajagungbade popularly known as Emir, an ally of the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, was reportedly shot dead in the State.
Ajagungbade was said to have been shot dead at Mayfair Garage, Ile-Ife, following a dispute.
Reports said he was lured to the motor park to attend a meeting but unfortunately he was shot on the head.
Reports said the incident occurred in the afternoon.
The death has reportedly sparked tension in the axis.
Feelers from the area said residents were afraid of what may happen next.
Oyeyemi was reportedly associated with the Accord Party and had been active in political and transport-related circles in the state.
His death was allegedly linked to leadership tussle over the park management.
At press time, Adeleke had directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately investigate the matter and arrest anyone found to be involved.
Adeleke issued the directive in a statement signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the State Governor.
The governor also ordered rival groups to vacate affected motor parks and announced plans to reintroduce the Park Management System across Osun State.
Adeleke called for calm and warned that nobody involved in the alleged killing would be shielded from justice.
According to the statement: We call on members of the public to remain calm. We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas. The security agencies are under instruction to ensure the sustainability of peace at all cost.
We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state”, the governor noted in the statement.
How I escaped death—PA
Ajagungbade’s death occurred barely a week after Damilola Kayode, the Personal Assistant (PA) to the council chairman of Oriade Local Government area of the state was attacked by some assailants.
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Ogbon-Iloro in Ijebu-Jesa area.
Narrating his ordeal in a video monitored by Citizens Compass, Kayode said: I left home at about 5.30p.m for Ogbon-Iloro to visit my brother, Sanmi, and we were in front of his house playing an indoor game when at about 7.07p.m, a Sienna bus packed and about ten people alighted from it and rounded my brother and I off.
Their team leader, Femi, exchanged pleasantries with me, instructing me to start singing one of our campaign songs. The next was that they attacked me with machetes and other weapons, four of them laid me down while another drew out a sword and started cutting my neck. Upon noticing that blood was gushing out of my neck, they abandoned me and escaped the scene thinking I was dead. People rallied around me and took me to the hospital.
