CITIZENS COMPASS— The Fusengbuwa Ruling House yesterday, submitted the list of Nominated candidates to fill the vacant stool of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland in Ogun State.
The list consists of the names of members of the family aspiring to occupy the vacant stool.
The names were submitted to the kingmakers for consideration and preparation of the final list.
Citizens Compass reported that the Fusengbuwa Ruling House on Monday, January 12, 2026, held a Nomination meeting at Bisbod Events Center, Ijebu-Ode, where 95 names were shortlisted and yesterday, the names were submitted to the kingmakers.
The Chairman and Head of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, led the delegation that submitted the names.
Presenting the list, Otunba Owoyemi said, “The list of names nominated by the Fusengbuwa Ruling House for the vacant stool of Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
“I, from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House hereby present the names of the candidates nominated at our family nomination meeting held on January 12, 2026, at Ijebu-Ode, for your submission to the Awujale kingmakers.
He concluded by saying that the list included the profiles of all the candidates.”
The kingmakers were ably represented by the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Olorogun Sunny Kuku.
The names were submitted at the palace of the Awujale in Ijebu-Ode.
With the submission of the names, the kingmakers are expected to carefully select the most qualified candidate for onward submission to the state government through the Ijebu Ode Local Government and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State, for further action.
The Awujale stool became vacant on July 13, 2025, when Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, joined his ancestors.
Citizens Compass reported that the husband of former deputy governor of the State, Otunba Abiodun Onanuga, was among the nominees.
