
Controversy trails death of woman in MFM Prayer City
CITIZENS COMPASS—Controversies yesterday, trailed the death of a 41-year-old woman who was found dead in the auditorium of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) popularly known as Prayer City, along the Ogun State axis of Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Members of the church are yet to find out what led to the death of the woman who was later identified as Benita Lurk Ikuenobe.
Prayer City has become a household name due to its non-stop prayer sessions for decades as testimonies drop in.
Benita was reportedly found dead last Friday with a bottle believed to be containing poisonous substance beside her.
The Chief Security Officer of the Church, Mr. Esiere Ekikere, was said to be taken aback on noticing the body.
According to him, he received a distress call about the incident at about 7:20 a.m. on the fateful day.
He was said to have informed the church authorities that the woman was found lying unconscious on the floor of the auditorium.
The Chief Security Officer said upon his arrival at the scene, he discovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained a toxic substance near the body and he drew the attention of relevant authorities including the Nigeria Police Force.
Citizens Compass gathered that the body had been deposited at a morgue.
The incident has been generating controversies among social media users.
Many of them called on relevant authorities to do the needful.
At press time, MFM is yet to issue an official statement.
