Fire guts building in Ketu

CITIZENS COMPASS– PROPERTY which monetary value could not be ascertained was destroyed on Boxing Day as fire gutted a residential building in Lagos.

The incident occurred at about 18:18 hours at 54 Aledelola Street, Ikosi Ketu, Lagos.

However, this waa attended to by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service which doused the Fire outbreak.

According to Adeseye Margaret, the
Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, who gave a detailed report about the incident said the incident was the 9th out of the 10 emergencies on that day.

“The Fire alert which was reported at 18:18 hours Boxing day being the 9th of the 10 emergencies recorded thus far between 08:00 hours till this release. This was coming from 24 emergencies on Christmas day as the highest ever recorded in a given 24 hours, give much to be desired.

“On arrival at the scene at 18:30 hours by Alausa Fire crew before being joined by their Ilupeju counterparts, it was discovered that it is a Fire at the upper floor of a storey building with an extended storey boys’ quarter that were touched before preventing it from spreading to the ground floors and surrounding buildings.

“The incident which recorded no casualty is being investigated to unravel the cause while efforts will be redoubled to prevent incessant Fire and related emergencies since last November.

“Similarly, the Public is further reminded that Fuel Scarcity is not a yardstick to illegitimate and inappropriate storage of Fuel to the detriment of our Lives and Properties.

“As the Agency is hereby admonished the Public to desist from using kegs to store Petrol and other flammable Liquids just as Motorists are advised not to store same in their Boots.”
