Five injured in multiple crash along expressway in Ogun 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— Five persons were injured yesterday, in a collision involving multi vehicles along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, Ogere axis of Ogun State.

The accident occurred at about 10.17p.m.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, Oludare Ogunjobi, confirmed the accident saying the Ogunmakin Unit Command, managed the serious traffic situation that was caused by the accident.

The crash involved two heavily loaded trailers: a black CNHTC HOWO (Reg No: TTD-145ZY) carrying iron rods and a white Sinotruck (No Reg No) carrying unidentified materials.

According to the spokesperson of the Sector Command, Odunsi Afolabi: The multiple-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:17 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026, on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

The crash involved two heavily loaded trailers: a black CNHTC HOWO (Reg No: TTD-145ZY) carrying iron rods and a white Sinotruck (No Reg No) carrying unidentified materials.

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was caused by Speed Violations (SPV) and Loss of Control (LOC).

A total of seven (7) adult males were involved in the accident. We are pleased to report that there were zero fatalities.

Five (5) persons sustained various degrees of injuries.

Three victims were immediately evacuated to Victory Hospital, Ogere, last night.

Two victims who were initially trapped in the wreckage were successfully rescued this morning and have been transported to the same facility for medical attention.

Both trucks are currently wedged together and require heavy-duty cranes for separation and removal. To ensure the safety of motorists and recovery teams:

Temporary Closure: The Ibadan-Lagos lane is currently being temporarily blocked to allow for the removal of the obstruction.

Traffic diversion: All Lagos-bound traffic is being diverted at the Alapako Bridge to share the Lagos-Ibadan lane.

Route clearance: FRSC officials have already created a corridor at the crash scene to ease the initial gridlock, but heavy delays are expected during the final recovery phase.

The Sector Commander Corps Commander urges motorists to exercise extreme patience, maintain lane discipline, and follow the instructions of traffic officers on-site. He advised travelers to consider alternative routes where possible until the obstruction is fully cleared.
