FRSC Lagos intercepts dangerously overloaded vehicle along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
CITIZENS COMPASS—The Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), yesterday, said it has intercepted a dangerously overloaded vehicle along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, (NAOSNP) can report.
The vehicle was intercepted yesterday, by the patrol team at about 5:00 p.m
FRSC said the vehicle, laden with an excessive number of mattresses, was visibly bent to one side due to the unsafe load, posing a serious risk to both the driver and other road users.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, reiterated the Corps’ zero tolerance for overloading of passengers or goods, stressing that such practices compromise vehicle stability, and significantly heighten the risk of road crashes.
Overloading is not only a violation of traffic regulations; it is an open invitation to tragedy,” he said.
FRSC will continue to enforce strict compliance with load limits and ensure that offenders face the full weight of the law.
The arrested vehicle has been impounded while the driver will be prosecuted in line with extant regulations.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Command urges all motorists and transport operators to adhere to manufacturer load specifications and prioritize safety over profit.
