CITIZENS COMPASS—The outgoing chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, Olusesan Mayokun Daini, on Sunday, said he cherished the trust given to him by the residents of the area.

In the emotional appreciation message personally signed by Daini and posted on various social media platforms, the immediate past council chairman popularly known as Builder Daini, said the eight years journey was $too deep to fully express..”

Citizens Compass reports that Daini paddled the Affairs of IBLCDA between July 2017 and July 2025.

On Friday, being his last working day, he embarked on mass commissioning of projects which was rounded off on Saturday.

The commissioned projects were facilitated by a Member, Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Bajimi Benson.

Among the commissioned projects were the road construction at Lawal Animashanwu and Baganju streets in igbogbo, Primary Health Care (PHC) centre on Agbele Road igbogbo, Ilado Primary School, along Baiyeku Road and Olu -Odo Primary School, Olu Odo.

Citizens Compass reported that the roads were also lined with street lighting for security purposes.

One of the streets houses three private primary schools.

On Sunday, the emotional message read:

My Dear Good People of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA,

As the sun sets on this chapter of our shared journey, I find myself filled with emotions too deep to fully express—gratitude, humility, and a quiet sense of fulfilment.

Eight years ago, you gave me the rare privilege to serve as Executive Chairman of our council. It was not just an election—it was a trust. A sacred trust that I carried with reverence, through trials and triumphs, through hard days and hopeful nights.

Together, we dreamed. Together, we worked. Together, we built.

I came into office with a vision—to restore faith in grassroot governance, to improve lives, to touch every ward, every home, every heart with the warmth of purposeful leadership. And today, though the work is never truly finished, I am proud of what we have done—not I, but we!

From infrastructural development to uplifted schools, from upgraded healthcare to empowered youth and women, from revenue reforms to digital transformation—our footprints now speak where words may fail.

But beyond projects and programmes, what I cherish most are the moments: a market woman’s smile as her stall gets a new roof, a child whose school bag we helped fill, a youth who found purpose through our empowerment drive, an elder whose concerns shaped our policies. These human connections, these shared hopes—they are the legacy that endures.

I have been guided by three simple principles: integrity, service, and love for our people. These values anchored me in moments of pressure, and lit the way when the path was unclear.

I must specially commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose visionary leadership as Governor of Lagos State led to the creation of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). What began as a bold and courageous seed of decentralization has today grown into a mighty timber—strengthening grassroots governance, deepening development, and bringing government closer to the people. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, for his unwavering support to Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. By aligning with the THEMES agenda of his administration, we found direction, synergy, and the momentum to achieve much of what we are proud to say we accomplished. I must not fail to mention the very important roles of Sen. Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA in attracting projects to the council. Also Rep. Babajimi Benson for his brotherly support and commitment to our success by facilitating impactful projects across all wards of the LCDA.

Our political mentors and leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, artisans, market leaders, CDAs/CDCs, women and youth groups—you were my backbone. Thank you for walking this road with me, for the criticisms that refined me, and the encouragement that uplifted me.

My heartfelt appreciation goes to my Vice Chairman, the Leader and Councillors of the Legislative Arm, Council Executive Members, the Council Manager, the entire management, and the ever-resilient staff of the LCDA. Your dedication, teamwork, and unwavering support lightened the burden of leadership and made our shared journey truly rewarding.

I deeply appreciate my colleagues who are also bowing out today—your camaraderie and solidarity over the years will never be forgotten.

To my dear family, who sacrificed more than the public ever saw—thank you for being my silent strength.

To my successor, I leave behind not just projects, but people—empowered, hopeful, and eager for continued progress. May your leadership be marked by compassion, wisdom, and open ears. The trust of the people is a precious gift—may it guide every step you take.

As I bow out of office today, July 27, 2025, I do so with no regret, but with a full heart of gratitude to every single resident of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. Though I exit today as the Executive Chairman, my commitment to the growth and glory of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA remains eternal.

Let this be remembered not as an end, but a continuation of service in new forms. Because true leadership never ends—it evolves.

May our LCDA continue to rise. May our people continue to thrive.

God bless Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

God bless Lagos State.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

With love and gratitude,

Bldr. Olusesan Mayokun Daini, B.Sc, MPIA, M.Sc, MNIOB

The Adosh Family in its message titled, “The end of an era, the beginning of a legacy

-Celebrating the Outstanding Stewardship of Bldr. Olusesan Daini in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA-,” the family praised Builder Daini for a job well done:

“As Bldr. Olusesan Daini formally bows out as Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), he does so not in silence, but to the resounding applause of a grateful constituency. His administration will be remembered not only for the physical transformation it ushered in but for the values of vision, service, and excellence that defined his time in office.

“For eight years, Bldr. Daini led a people-focused government anchored on infrastructure, education, security, healthcare, youth empowerment, economic inclusion, and sustainable development. His tenure was not just about building projects; it was about building a legacy.

“Infrastructure and urban development

Under his leadership, the council witnessed significant infrastructure advancement. The construction of the Administrative and Legislative Building established a cornerstone for grassroots democracy and institutional order in the LCDA. He further oversaw the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads: Lasori-Abuja Road, Market Road, Oliwo Amoju, and several inner roads across all five wards, ensuring safer mobility and easier access for residents and businesses.

Efforts in environmental sustainability were also evident, with the dredging of major canals for flood channelization and the planting of trees to support green growth in line with global climate objectives.

Advancing education and human capital

Bldr. Daini’s administration made education a top priority, initiating the construction, rehabilitation and upgrading of public schools across the LCDA. Beyond infrastructure, his administration distributed educational materials, sponsored bursary awards, covered JAMB and GCE registration fees, and organized academic competitions to motivate students. A standout moment was the educational excursion to South Africa, awarded to an outstanding student, giving 1,000,000 each to 3 winners of Igbogbopedia competitions, a clear testament to his belief in rewarding excellence.

The Council also partnered with the Community Development Committee (CDC) to empower girls against domestic abuse and provided support for physically challenged students. The establishment of Road Safety Clubs across primary schools further reflects his focus on child development and safety education.

Health and social welfare

In the health sector, Bldr. Daini provided impactful interventions such as free fibroid surgeries for 16 residents, commissioning of a new maternity block in Bayeku Community, and various public health awareness campaigns, including on cholera prevention. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his leadership was proactive, ensuring that relief packages and health support reached the most vulnerable.

The launch of a palliative care program and the distribution of over 3,000 food bags exemplified his deep understanding of grassroots needs and his commitment to alleviating hardship.

Security And Safety

Security received robust attention with the construction of the MOPOL 63 base in Igbogbo, the formation of a Joint Task Force, the training of security personnel, and the provision of patrol vehicles to both the JTF and the Nigerian Police Force in Ikorodu. Improved welfare packages and salary structures further strengthened operational efficiency. The hosting of community security awareness programs in partnership with HUVACOD underlined his inclusive approach to safety.

Youth, sports and culture

A true believer in youth potential, Bldr. Daini sponsored numerous youth and sporting events, including the Igbogbo Beach Soccer Tournament, Primary Schools Sports Festival, Adeboruwa Football Competition, Oldies Appreciation Game, and the Chairman’s Cup. These initiatives did more than entertain; they fostered unity, identity, and pride among the youth.

He also led cultural revitalization through the hosting of the Igbogbo Magical Festivista, digital and skills training for youths, giving out laptops to 5 top students, positioning the LCDA as a destination for technology advancement, creativity and cultural tourism.

Economic development and empowerment

Bldr. Daini disbursed ₦20 million in relief funds, facilitated interest-free loans for market men and women, and partnered with the ROWAA Foundation to feed over 200 widows and aged residents. His inclusive empowerment programs trained over 300 youth and women in vocational skills and digital literacy, laying the groundwork for economic independence.

His administration also prioritized capacity building for public office holders through local and international training programs, reflecting a commitment to institutional efficiency and professional governance.

Strengthening traditional heritage

In a historic move, Bldr. Daini facilitated the construction of the new Adeboruwa Palace and Adeboruwa Market, a modern market in Offin, aligning modern governance with traditional leadership and heritage preservation.

As his tenure concludes, Bldr. Olusesan Daini leaves behind a LCDA transformed, not just in brick and mortar, but in the lives touched, empowered, and uplifted. His administration exemplified purposeful leadership, and his legacy will continue to guide the future of Igbogbo/Baiyeku.

Indeed, this is not just the end of a political era. It is the beginning of a legacy that will inspire generations to come.*

Thank you, Bldr. Olusesan Daini, for the bricks you laid and the future you built.
